The city of Biddeford has just been named by Food and Wine as one of America’s next great food cities. Biddeford is giving Portland a run for its money as the next up-and-coming foodie town.At Banded Brewing, they grill up smashed patties. It’s known for its craft beer on tap and by the can, but Banded Brewing has gotten so busy over they added a kitchen and a real menu. “The burger is a new addition to the menu along with the house-made veggie burger and some more vegan entrees,” Carrie Clark, manager of Banded Brewing said.Ian McConnell is the owner of Banded Brewing. “When we built the new taproom out in 2016 we then decided to offer some food so we had a small panini press and a convention oven,” McConnell said. “We had grilled cheese sandwiches and things like that.”Carrie Clark is also the chef and in charge of upping the Branded Brewing’s food game.“What I’m most excited about is the addition of a lot of vegetarian and vegan options that are all house-made,” Clark said.There is even a fried chicken and waffle dish served with warm maple syrup. “We kind of consider it elevated, fancy, yet approachable pub food,” McConnell said.New additions to the food and beverage scene in Biddeford can be spotted up and down Main Street. Time & Time Coffee Shop is among them.The new spots are complementing the old mainstays such as Pizza by Alex, the Palace Diner and Reilley’s Bakery in business for 109 years. There is a food truck park coming soon to the corner of Alfred and Pool streets. It’s a high-traffic corner that’s been vacant for 16 years since the building that once stood there was condemned after a fire.“To see this lot sitting here like this — I mean you couldn’t find a better corner,” Steve Liautaud said.Liautaud, a real estate broker, bought the lot and has big plans for the food truck park. “I love the whole concept of food trucks and I love what’s happening here in Biddeford,” Liautaud said. “I like the idea of this being like a culinary stage.”The city also likes the idea.
