CHATTANOOGA — The Chattanooga Athletics Department continued its summer hiring process with two additional full-time staffers which include Amber Evans in the Student-Athlete Academic Enhancement Center and Zane Goedderz in Strategic Communications.
Evans has been hired as an Assistant Director for Student-Athlete Academic Enhancement while Goedderz will also carry Assistant Director title duties in the Strategic Communications office. The two additions follow a string of hirings and promotions within the department over the past few weeks.
Amber Evans – Assistant Director – Student-Athlete Academic Enhancement
Evans arrived in the Scenic City in June and will take on Assistant Director duties inside the Student-Athlete Academic Enhancement offices, primarily advising the Mocs football program. The Forest, Va., native brings a vast amount of related experience to her new role at UTC.
Evans was promoted to an Athletic Academic Advisor and Learning Specialist role from 2020-23 at Towson following Football Academic Achievement and Lead Football Academic Advisor Intern duties from 2019-20. She previously served in the Academics, Community, Recruiting, and Operations space at Kentucky from 2018-19 and Virginia Tech in 2017-18.
Evans graduated from Radford in 2018 as an Interdisciplinary Studies major before earning her Master’s in Athletic Leadership from Clemson in 2020. She currently is a member of the National Association of Academic Advisors for Athletics (N4A).
Zane Goedderz – Assistant Director – Strategic Communications (WBB, VB, Beach VB)
Goedderz arrived in Chattanooga in May as an Assistant Director in the Strategic Communications office and will handle all media and publicity efforts for the UTC women’s basketball, volleyball, and beach volleyball programs.
A native of New London, Wisconsin, Goedderz recently wrapped up a two-year Graduate Assistant position in the Athletic Communications office at Ole Miss in May of 2023 before accepting the position at UTC. Goedderz has worked in the media relations realm for a wide range of teams and sports including a brief stint as a Public Relations Assistant with Minnesota United FC of the MLS.
Goedderz graduated from Minnesota in 2021 with a double major in Strategic Communications and Communication Studies before earning his Master’s in Integrated Marking Communications at Ole Miss during his GA tenure. He is currently a member of the College Sports Communicators (CSC, formerly CoSIDA) organization.
